Since 1984, Ptarmigan Arts has existed on Pioneer Avenue. In June 2013, the gallery was purchased by the artists, thus becoming a co-op gallery owned and operated by the artists. Not only do the artists create and sell their works at Ptarmigan, they staff the gallery, providing expert knowledge of the artwork.
Ptarmigan Arts is open year-around, offering artists a place to display and sell their work and offering visitors and locals alike a place to purchase quality art work and hand-crafted items. Ptarmigan Arts Cooperative Gallery carries the work of established artists in Homer as well as art of newcomers to the Homer art scene.
The Back Room Gallery at Ptarmigan Arts provides space for solo and collaborative shows by both emerging and well-known artists. It’s featured in Homer’s First Friday art openings each month when Ptarmigan Arts hosts art openings and artists’ receptions.
The gallery currently has 29 owner artists and a limited number of consignment artists. The range of media comprise watercolor and acrylic paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, fiber/wearable arts, stained and fused glass, hand-crafted wood items, Alaskan fine art prints and cards.
Ptarmigan Arts is located in scenic and charming downtown Homer at 471 Pioneer Avenue near City Hall and a short walk from a myriad of other shops, restaurants and other attractions. We are open year round daily from 10 to 6 pm. (except on major holidays).
We accept all major credit cards. Shipping is available and we offer free gift-wrapping for purchases in the gallery.
