Welcome to Ptarmigan Arts! This exceptional art gallery has existed in Homer, Alaska on Pioneer Avenue since 1984. In June 2013, the gallery was purchased by the artists. It became a co-op gallery owned and operated by the artists. Not only do artists create and sell their works at Ptarmigan Arts, they also staff the gallery providing our customers with expert knowledge of the artwork.
Ptarmigan Arts Cooperative Gallery is open year-round. The gallery offers artists a place to display and sell their artwork while providing visitors and locals alike a place to purchase quality artwork and local handcrafted items. Ptarmigan Arts carries the artwork of established Homer artists as well as newcomers to the Homer art scene.
The Back Room Gallery (BRG) at Ptarmigan Arts provides space for solo and collaborative shows or exhibits by well-known artists and also emerging artists. The BRG shows are a feature of Homer’s First Friday gallery receptions for new exhibits each month. Ptarmigan Arts’ First Friday hosts their new show with an artist’s reception that includes food and an enjoyable evening from 5-7 pm.
The gallery currently has over 30 owner-artists and a limited number of consignment artists. The range of media comprise watercolor and acrylic paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, fiber/wearable arts, stained and fused glass, fine woodworking, Alaskan fine art prints and cards.
