Tinker Ryerson
“COLORS OF PERSUASION”
Tinker Ryerson is originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands where she lived for 37 years. As a child, she received private painting lessons and then attended art school for 2 years as a young adult. After moving to Alaska, she states, “I could not get through the long, white winters without some colors so I started painting happy, colorful paintings to lift my spirits.” For the past 16 years, she has continued painting, growing in her colorful, and often whimsical, style. Last year, she began experimenting with making live body casts from models. She uses the same materials as used for setting broken arms and legs. After the casts dry, she then paints and embellishes them, creating colorful creatures: “Swamp Lady, “Flying Mermaid”, and "Dragon Back". She also paints characters on the belly casts: “Water Nymph Naija” and "Tanner the Sagittarius". Neither of these are for sale, as they are custom made from (and for) a specific model. However, the artist is happy to do a custom cast for (or from) you, so please inquire at the gallery or through email. The paintings from the show are not shown here as they are framed behind glass and therefore hard to photograph without a glare. The paintings shown above are examples of her technique and style.
