A LOCAL COOPERATIVE GALLERY

Welcome New Artist Carole Miller

Ptarmigan Arts Gallery is happy to welcome another new artist, Carole Miller.  Carole works with mosaic glass with a unique style that will provide a new vision for mosaic artwork.

Carole has been an Alaskan resident for over 50 years.  Recently she and her husband bought a home in Homer.

Carole is a mosaic glass artist, but not in the traditional sense.  For the past three years she has been using flat stones, like flagstone and river rocks in differing colors, sizes and shapes to frame her mosaics.  Much of Carole’s inspiration comes from the beauty of Alaska wildlife including birds, fish, whales and bears.

All of Carole’s designs are original.  Once she has an idea, she creates a sketch, works out the mosaic pieces and then draws it on the stone.  She then cuts and grinds the glass, glues the glass onto the stone and then uses grout to seal the piece.  It is usually a 4-day process.

Carole says, “I now have a home studio, love what I do and I am inspired every day living in this beautiful community.”

Our gallery is pleased to have Carole as a new member and we are excited to share her unique mosaic artwork with the Homer community.  See the slides below for an introduction to her lovely mosaics framed on stone.
