A LOCAL COOPERATIVE GALLERY

Kevin Reeves for August 26th and 27th

In his teens, self-taught artist Kevin Reeves took up casual sketching in graphite and charcoal, but dropped the hobby when he left Philadelphia and the East to travel the country.  Thirty years later, the dormant skill resurfaced.

Kevin now works mainly in acrylics and terms his paintings “vignettes” because they capture snippets of life.  In addition, he writes and performs his own Alaska poetry with his hand-bound book Voices From A Far Land and has written professionally for over 30 years.

Kevin has lived in Alaska for over 35 years and is currently living in Valdez.  His favorite quote is by Henry Ward Beecher who said, “An artist is one who dips his brush in his own soul and paints himself.”

Kevin’s show will run 10 am to 6 pm Friday, August 26th and Saturday, August 27thHis live poetry performances will be at 11 am and 4:30 pm on both days.
