Ptarmigan Arts Scholarship Auction

Supporting Our Nest Egg Fund for Fledgling Artists

The Back Room Gallery (BRG) is proud to host our Visual Arts Scholarship Auction this year.  We are delighted about holding our auction online for the very first time at www.biddingowl.com/ptarmigan.  Although the auction is online, all bidders will have an opportunity to see each auction item displayed in the BRG.  Anyone participating in the online auction can also stop by the gallery to check out any auction item that may be of special interest.  It is going to be the event of the year because our gallery members are so enthusiastic about providing financial assistance to local budding high school artists.

The members of Ptarmigan Arts established the Ptarmigan Arts Scholarship auction to encourage and assist local high school students to further their education in the visual arts.  It is the only visual arts scholarship in Homer for high school students.  The annual award can be used for supplies, tuition, supplemental classes before college, or any arts-related activity that will help them explore ways to enhance their craft.

The scholarship fund (now in its 25th year) has always had tremendous support from the Homer community.  All items are donated by members, local artists and businesses.  Eager participants have enabled Ptarmigan Arts to give awards to up to three aspiring artists per year.  The Ptarmigan Arts Scholarship fund is a permanent fund administered by the Homer Foundation (www.homerfoundation.org), a non-profit philanthropic organization.  All proceeds from the auction go directly into our Homer Foundation scholarship fund and are used exclusively for scholarship awards.

So this special auction will start online on November 3rd at 5 pm and the last day of bidding is November 27 at 5 pm.  Although pictures and descriptions of all auction items are on the Bidding Owl website, the Homer community is cordially invited to our First Friday opening where all auction items will be displayed in the BRG.  Refreshments will be served.

Do not miss this opportunity to again help us add to our nest egg and support our fledging High School artists!  It is difficult to describe the enthusiasm and gratitude of past recipients.  Thank you for your support!
