Welcome New Artist Carrie Reed
Ptarmigan Arts welcomes new member Carrie Reed. She is a quilter extraordinaire.
Carrie has lived in Homer since 1985. She has an Art degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Carrie has spent the last 30 years quilting. This includes also taking workshops, exhibiting her work in Alaska and Arizona. She also has had a solo exhibition.
Her quilts are always original designs, but often partly include traditional motifs—in the industry they are called ‘art quilts’. She combines commercial fabrics with her own hand-dyed fabrics.
With Carrie’s ‘kaleidoscope’ technique, the end result presents itself from her subconscious through a matrix of skills. She has learned to trust herself with this creative process.
Carrie has small to large quilts as well as wall hangings and table runners. Below are examples of the wonderful designs and colors of her quilts.
