Welcome New Artist Sarah Sims

We are happy to introduce our new member, Sarah Sims.  She is a welcome addition to our gallery with her exceptional pottery.

Sarah has been a potter for over 20 years and has been selling her artwork for 15 years.  She honed in on sgraffito work about 10 years ago.  She has been selling mostly online (see www.facebook.com/DryCreekPottery).  She also has sold her artwork at shows such as the annual Raven Art Show in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Sarah was born and raised in Alaska.  She lived on the East Coast where her husband was stationed during his career in the Army. When he retired, they decided to move back to Alaska.  They first moved to Fairbanks in 2018.  This past May they decided to move closer to the ocean and so found their way to Homer.

Sarah’s pottery became very popular in Fairbanks (also popular on the East Coast).  She is glad to be able to introduce her pottery to Homer (now on display at our gallery).

Sarah’s pottery includes dipping dishes, catch all dishes, cups, bowls, mugs, serving bowls, clay bells and hand thrown pots adorned with leather trim.  The sgraffito designs include ravens, birch tree, salmon, starfish and also the popular honeycomb design.  (See below for examples or come on by the gallery—you’ll be amazed.)
