Migratory Bird Treaty Act

YEAR OF THE BIRD

The Back Room Gallery (BRG) at Ptarmigan Arts presents our Year of the Bird show inspired by the centennial celebration of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), the most powerful and important bird-protection law ever passed.  The MBTA was a pivotal piece of legislation that continues to save countless birds’ lives, but birds are also facing many new and serious threats (including attacks on the MBTA).  Throughout 2018 more than 150 participating organizations are celebrating birds across all media including magazines, television, social media, and more.

In honor of this milestone, and because we want to support this effort, Ptarmigan artists are helping to celebrate the Year of the Bird with paintings, photography, beadwork, carved and turned wood sculptures, pottery and ceramics plus a host of other mediums.  We are hoping that our BRG show will shed more light and awareness about the MBTA, the Year of the Bird and the importance of protecting birds.

Ptarmigan artists in this show include Gary Lyon, Dan Coe, Ted Heuer, Cindy Nelson, Carolyn Seymour, Laura Faeo, Ruby Haigh, Kathie Baldwin, Janaan Kitchen, Joanne Thordarson, Dan Fischer, Jean Steele, Olga Amaral and more will showcase their artwork in this exhibit.

Please join us as we celebrate our new show Year of the Bird on First Friday, September 7th from 5-7 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.

The Year of the Bird show will be on display through October 2nd.  Birds are in the spotlight during September and you’ll want to catch that light on our beloved feathered friends!
