A LOCAL COOPERATIVE GALLERY

Welcome New Artists Heather Mann and Eliana Fye

Ptarmigan Arts Gallery is thrilled to announce the addition of two new members, Heather Mann and Eliana Fye!  Below is an introduction to both artists and their artwork:

Heather Mann:  Art has always been important to Heather.  It was her emphasis in high school where she took as many art classes as possible including painting, drawing, mixed media and independent Art Studio.  She also enjoyed taking painting classes at a local hobby store.

Heather followed her heart to Homer where she has lived for the past 20 years.  She received a diploma in Interior Design with a special interest in Biophillic Design.  This education, combined with her past experiences, has provided a broad understanding of color theory and the elements of art including how they are used on the canvas.  Since 2021, she has taught an Elements of Art class to youth at a local co-op.  Over the last fifteen years Heather also became a wife and mother, but still finds time to paint.

Heather’s work is predominantly acrylic on canvas, but she has recently been experimenting with mixed media as well as using objects of nature, such as tree bark & conk mushrooms.  Her passion for nature and wildlife shines through most of her pieces.  Heather’s style is mostly impressionistic-realism, although she likes to dabble in the world of fantasy and surrealism as well.  She especially loves to emphasize lighting and contrast!

Heather currently has a Nature in Alaska themed original series displayed at the Ninilchik Tribal Council office.  She also has a print displayed at the Homer Art and Frame Store and an original painting at the Homer Bookstore.

Eliana Fye‘s Artist Statement:

“My name is Eliana Fye and I am 16 years old.  I grew up in Seldovia.

I learned beading from my older sister.  I like to use porcupine quills as they give a very unique but natural look to my earrings.  I enjoy choosing the color combinations for each set.

When I am not busy with art or school, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and 4 wheeling.”

Come check out our new artists, Heather and Eliana, and their beautiful and unique artwork!  The Gallery is open summer hours 7 days a week from 10 am – 6 pm.  First Friday on July 4th will be open from 10 am to 7 pm.  See you there!
