Ptarmigan Arts is pleased to welcome wildlife and landscape photographer Pam Roseveare as our visiting artist July 3-5. A Homer resident, Pam served as a Department of Defense civilian employee with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for 32 years. Now retired, she and her husband Dave share the business brand name Images by His Design.
In her own words: “My dad cultivated a love for wildlife and nature in me at a very young age through the many road trips he would take my family on. Some were very long trips around the entire state of Alaska, while others didn’t take us far from home, but all of them focused on the beauty of Alaska and the amazing wildlife found within our great state. Like many, I did my best with an old cell phone until about eight years ago when I saw a Beluga whale surface for air in Cook Inlet. The exact moment it surfaced, its spout coincided with the end of a beautiful rainbow that spanned the Kenai Mt. range and dumped into the inlet. Try as I may, the shot with my cell phone was underwhelming to say the least. It was then that I looked at my husband and said ‘That’s it, I’m getting a real camera.’ The rest is history.”
Pam’s solo show opens on Friday, July 3 and runs through Sunday, July 5. Gallery hours are 10 am to 6 pm, with extended First Friday hours until 7 pm on the 3rd.
