Ptarmigan Arts Gallery is happy to introduce our new artist, Meriam Linder. She describes her artwork as a Wilderness Wonders Tradition where material and curiosity converge in Meriam’s durable, authentic artwork.
Meriam has lived in Homer all her life, and is raising her two children here as well. Her husband (Maynard Linder, Dancing Man Knives & Ulus) is also a self-employed artist. They appreciate having the flexibility to camp, hunt and travel as a family.
Meriam is a talented entrepreneur with experience in product development and crafting, marketing, web store design and management, business bookkeeping, and retail operations. Her businesses included Wilderness Wonders, Local Showcase (sold), HandsofAlaska.com (sold) and Alaska’s Best Wholesale Show (sold).
Meriam approaches art and life with enthusiasm and curiosity. As an avid learner and experimenter, she enjoys a broad range of mediums from antler carving and quilting to watercolors, printmaking and photography. These diverse experiences have centered around art and business. Joining the Ptarmigan Arts family will be a new experience for her because now she can look forward to sharing responsibilities with a supportive team.
Meriam bounces between mediums and loves developing ideas into profitable, fun to make products. The photographs below are samples of her artwork under five category groupings—Carving, Artwork, Collage, Natural, and Beaded. An informative card accompanies every piece of work to explain materials, technique and context.
Welcome Meriam Linder! All are invited to visit the gallery soon to enjoy her unique, natural and lovely artwork.
